History
0.90 November 2001
* Had to switch online portion of news checking to a new public server;
  so no Argonet newsgroups any more :(
* News didn't appear to work properly; fixed.
* email checking done in a similar way to news - an online script connects
  to the mail server and attempts to verify the email address.
* fairly crude line counter added, so you can find those errors quicker.

0.81 October 2001 (no public unrelease)
* Anchors can now be id="...", for X(HT)ML compliance.
* anchors don't need the '<a' part on the front.
* upped anchor numbers from 50 to 200, and can be changed in one variable.

0.80 March 2001
* Options to switch off online checks, and set root directory (see below)
* checks absolute links (href="/index.html") by setting a root directory or by looking for
  the presence of "site." and "pages." in the dragged file's path - so
    ADFS::HardDisc4.$.Websites.Iconbar.WebPages.foo/html
  can find
    ADFS::HardDisc4.$.Websites.Iconbar.WebPages.index/html
  from the link <a href="/index.html">
* Wrote CGI on my server to check newsgroups on ArgoNet system, and interfaced LinkSure to it
  - so it can check for the presence of newsgroups on the Pipex system using the standard
  http checking code (CGI fakes 200, 400 and 404 error codes)
* checks telnet links - just tries a server connection on the specified port, or
  port 23 (telnet) by default.
  e.g. telnet://localhost:2200 will connect to !SSHProxy
* Uses telnet capability to check for valid email hosts; sanity checks email addresses
  (can't think of a way to verify email addresses fully though - maybe an address book?)
* Checks for SSI included files (e.g. <!--#include virtual="/ssi/header.txt" -->)
* Doesn't leave input file open all the time (keeps it closed most of the time) -
  might impact on speed a bit, but it's nicer if you want to Alt-Break out of the
  program.
* More multitasking
  (currently link checking with a random MP3 jukebox playing in the background!)
* Time taken clock in bottom left - think this is from a previous version

0.16 August 2000
* Updated files that can be dragged into program to include SHTML, PHP and WML
* Updated checking for images to include bmp, wbmp and swf

0.15 January 2000
* menu system changed; added "Help..." option (HTML); menu usable from main
  window.
* Help and website buttons added to info window
* Got an email saying RISC OS Ltd. used this prog to check the HTML version
  of the PRMs :)

0.13/4 November 1999
* domains that don't DNS or return proper info now return error codes or at
  least time out properly.
* Tweak for "/........" files
* docs (html/txt)
* EasySocket instead of SocketFS module used

0.12 Friday, 11th June 1999
* Slight tweaks for when things go wrong, and added back in the icon
  for CGIs (a little clipboard with a form on it) - wonder how that
  got lost? :)
* Timer - on main window, and in the report

0.11 Thursday, 15th April 1999
* Error count - once the program has completed all of its checks, it
  will stream the first 2K of the error log back in, and hopefully put
  the number of major and minor problems at the top of the page.
  Serious errors include all of the 400 series errors (404 not found,
  403 permission denied etc.), 500 server errors, failed connections,
  and duff html that means local files can't be found or URL protocols
  are being referenced incorrectly. Less serious are things like
  redections - on some web servers this simply means there might be a
  more direct route to where you want to go (e.g. www.argosphere.com
  redirects to www.argosphere.net - both are valid, but the .com address
  gives a redirection warning)
* Added "Again" button - will re-do last page so that you can check your
  corrections without constantly re-dragging the file to LinkSure.
* "Cancel" button now closes window if program is idle
* Title of page being scanned in the title bar, so you don't forget when
  you're halfway down the page!
* Shouldn't crash with strange protocols like "VoyagerHome:"
* Keeps a list of external sites that come up as okay in an internal file

0.10 January 1999
* Local link checking - by translating "../" into "^." it can check files
  above the current directory as well as stuff in sub-directories.
* now also checks for src= as well as href=, so it can check images
* changed the way it checks for filenames (it backtracks through the file
  on finding href= or src= so that bits of the filename don't get chopped
  off, something I've never done before)
* pretty little graphics to show if it's a local link, web link, image,
  email address, ftp link or unknown.
* if your local file is a directory, it says "directory found" instead of
  "file found"; however, if directory/index.html (or variations) is found
  it'll tell you about this instead, in yellow. This is useful when you
  want a site that also works from, for example, Acorn User CDs ;)
* uses internal storage for report file, not <Wimp$ScrapDir>.LinkSure (so
  there's not as much crap in the !Scrap directory)
* Closes it's files nicely if (when ;) it reports an error.
