When you sign on normally, you will get this sort of display. The users that you can see (in this example from my own system, the names have been removed to protect the guilty) are added using the add user window. However, there are actually two ways to add a user to your list; on line and off line. To start the contact list editor, Select click on the add contact icon (it's the third one from the left between the All/Online toggle switch and connection "flower" switch). |

This is the online version. To add a person to your list, you enter the UIN of your friend into the box provided and the appropriate action is taken. If the person needs to authorise your addition, the user will be added to the Waiting for Authorisation list until they next sign on and confirm or deny their permission. If yes, then the name will be added to your main online/offline list. Otherwise it will not be added -Not in Acorn ICQ version 0.10-. Alternatively you can search for a user using the email address, the current nickname or real names, though obviously this last can be a bit hit and miss according to how accurate you are -Not in Acorn ICQ version 0.10-. |

Alternatively, you may add your users off line. Enter the UIN and nickname to add the user to the Offline added list. When you next sign into ICQ the users will then be added automatically, getting Authorisation as it goes. |
