Suggested Activities with !PolyNet 22 June 1997

   1. Look at the Draw files 'NetEx1' and 'NetEx2' which have examples of
nets some with tabs, some without.

   2. Try making several different nets for one of the simpler polyhedra,
and saving them to different Draw files, you might try the cube
      (Examples.P003) or the octahedron (Examples.P002).
How many can you make for the cube? And how many for the octahedron?

   3. Use !Draw to decorate the net with seasonal clip art from your library:
yellow chickens at Easter time or Holly leaves at Christmas.

   4. Print the net, and try cutting it out and making your own model, or box
if you do not stick down the last tabs.

   5. Try looking at any of the nets, and decide how many different colours
are needed so that when the net is made up into a model, no two
adjacent faces are the same colour. Use !Draw to colour the net, cut
out the net and test your theory by making the model.

   6. Try looking at one of the more complicated polyhedra and see whether you
prefer to construct a model from a net with lots of folds such as no. 6
in the Drawfile 'NetEx2' or whether you find it easier to make up
a model from a net of no. 5
