Lithium is the least reactive of the groupI elements. It is rare, occurring
in few compounds, and in some cases bonds differently to other groupI
elements because of its higher electronegativity and smaller atomic radius.
Lithium produces a pinkish flame when burned in air, and reacts gently in
water to produce lithium hydroxide and hydrogen.
It is used in small watch batteries, and to harden alloys.
