This page describes the ViewStation's Audio
hardware.
ViewStation Audio Specifications
The HDS ViewStation Multimedia unit has both input and output
jacks on the backpanel, using stereo 3.5mm connectors.
Input jack specifications:
There are several types of input:
Line Level Audio -
this is line-level input, which accepts 2 V (RMS) analog signals. This
is the preferred setting.
HDS ViewCam - this is a line-level input setting.
HDS Headset - this is a boosted microphone input for
dynamic type unpowered microphones, 2-10 mV input. These microphones
must have JP1/JP2 set in the 1-2 position (this is the default position
so you should not have to change it).
CallPort Spkr/Mic - this is a line-level input setting.
HDS Microphone - this is a boosted microphone input (see
"Headset" above).
HDS Tuner - this is a battery/phantom powered microphone
(100 mV input).
VCR - this is a line-level input.
Unspecified - this should generally not be used; if there
is a question of appropriate levels for your device, choose the
line-level input setting.
If you are connecting your own audio device, select the entry
that matches the specifications of your device.
Output
jack specifications:
The Audio Output devices are as follows:
HDS Internal Speakers - 2 W output at 8 Ohms. Harmonic
distortion is 0.055% with power at 1 W.
External Speakers - self-powered for mono or stereo output
HDS Headset - 0.75 W at 1 V (peak-to-peak) when driving
loads of 25-32 Ohms. Harmonic distortion is approx. 0.005% with 32 Ohm
load.
CallPort Spkr/Mic. - self-powered speakers This selection
can also be made in Setup Mode from the User Preferences menu. The
ViewStation's audio signals can be either stereo or mono, have 8 or
16-bit precision and audio sampling rates from 5 to 48 KHz.
