HDSterm Resources and Files

This page describes the HDSterm resources and resource files and ways you can use them.

A complete list of HDSterm resources is available in the HDSterm manual page.

HDSTerm Resource Files

Resource files for configuring the HDSterm appearance and operation are contained in resource files located in the ViewStation server code, specifically in the path /HDS$$ROM/app-defaults. These default resources will always be found when the ViewStation is running.

Note that HDSterm resources use uppercase "T" in the client name.

HDSTerm Resources in $HOME/.Xdefaults
You can use your own resource specifications for HDSterm by creating a resource file of your own, usually called $HOME/.Xdefaults. These resources will be read from the home directory, or some other location, and will replace some or all of the default resources in HDS$$ROM as you specify.

For example, if you want to use different settings or different fonts or colors, you could change the resource specifications as follows:
HDSTerm*largeFont: 9x15
HDSTerm*screen.BlinkInterval: 200
HDSTerm*screen.background: darksteelblue
