This page describes the ViewStation's configuration file, ./hds-fx/config/config.fx
(and associated files) and ways it can be used to configure and
customize the ViewStation's operation.
Configuration
File Listing
This page contains a listing of the ViewStation's
configuration file. Note that the config.fx file is version dependent,
reflecting the addition of features and options to the ViewStation. The
file ./hds-fx/config/config.syntax.fx gives you the current
listing for your version of HDSware.
Reading the
Configuration File
The ViewStation reads its configuration file
each time the server is reset. It uses the default configuration file,
/FXUtilities/hds-fx/config/config.fx, which it locates based on the
"FXUtilities" mount point.
ViewStations with a hard disk
installed should read the "config.fx.dsk" configuration file.
Generating a Configuration File
You can make your own
configuration file by editing the config.syntax.fx file to include the
settings you want. This is a simple process.
An easy way to
make a configuration file is to make the settings you want in Setup Mode
on a ViewStation. You can then go to the Console Window and use the
"nvm dump" command to display those settings. Since they will be
displayed as HDSsetup resources, you can copy that output to a file and
use it as your configuration file (be sure an strip off the header
information and include only the common elements - deleting unique
elements like the ViewStation's IP address).
Using Include Statements in
Configuration Files
You can use "include" statements in
configuration files to customize them for particular environments or
users.
