This page describes the HDSware CD-ROM Installation
utility program.
Loading files - the HDSware Installation
Script
The HDSware CD-ROM contains an installation script, called
"INSTALL.CD", to manage the selection and installation of HDSware files
from the CD-ROM.
Login as root user.
Insert the CD-ROM into the ROM
drive; check the device name (there are examples of mount commands on
the previous page CD-ROM as a Mounted File System,
these commands may vary on your system) and mount the CD-ROM.
Change
to the mount point directory.
Type "Install.cd". Note that some hosts use upper or lower or
mixed case names. Do an "ls" command to see which version you should
use.
Sun uses: ./Install.cd
Other hosts (HP) require another format (check your host man
pages):
./'INSTALL.CD;1' (an ISO 9660 file name variant)
This starts the HDSware installation script.
INSTALL.CD
is a Bourne shell script and should run on all hosts without
modification. There are explanatory screens and a menu to select
installing the entire CD-ROM contents or only parts of it. There are
suggestions for files to include or omit.
When you've
selected the files to load, the installation script prompts for the
HDSware directory where you want the files loaded, and then loads your
selections automatically.
