Setup Mode Password Protection

This page describes password protection of Setup Mode and its entries.

Setup Mode Password Protection
The password protects sensitive fields in Setup Mode, such as IP information, fontpaths, etc. These fields cannot be edited except by entering the password.

Further protection is available by using resources in the configuration file. The resources:

HDSsetup.password.is_global: yes
HDSsetup.hide_icon: yes

let you make all of the fields in Setup Mode password protected and then hide the Setup Mode icon (the icon can be restored by hitting the Setup Mode hotkey, which is Alt-SysRq key in its default setting).

(For information about the hot key, and changing its setting, click on ViewStation Special Keymappings.

Further, entries in the configuration file override entries in Setup Mode and NVM. In this way, the system administrator can make settings for the ViewStation that the user cannot change.
