This
page lists various Setup Mode functions.
Setup Mode provides
the ability to set many communication, network, and user preference
settings. Using the "HDSware host" feature selects automatic entry of
many needed paths in their Setup Mode fields.
The Main Menu
contains eight buttons for starting all the ViewStation clients:
Some of the principal
functions are listed below as they appear in these menus:
Communications Options Menu
This menu lets you set various network specifications, such as
netmask and gateway information. This menu sets the Ethernet
communications, and also SLIP, CSLIP, and Serial Terminal Emulation
communications operations.
XDMCP Options Menu
This menu allows you to select the XDM Display Manager to
manage your ViewStation display, along with the type of XDMCP message to
send to initiate XDM and to set XDM timeout values. This menu lets you
start the Xdm Chooser, a local ViewStation client that displays
available Xdm hosts for users who select Indirect or Broadcast Xdm
access.
Remote Hosts Menu
This menu sets host information for up to six remote hosts,
specifying for each the host name and address and other host
information, including FTP or TFTP selection and access. It also permits
specification of a Local and a Remote Mount Directory for each host.

This menu lets you enter the addresses of the one or two hosts
to use to resolve Domain Names and the Default Suffix value for your

User Preferences Menu
This menu allows you to set a number of user preferences,
including fontpath and colormap path information, keyboard and bell
volume, screen saver settings, backing store and save under features,
international keyboard type, and resolution and color depth settings for
your monitor. This menu also allows you to enter a user password to

the user's selections.
