This page describes the ViewStation's
Twisted-Pair Ethernet Connector.
The twisted-pair Ethernet
connector is an 8-pin connector conforming to IEEE 802.3 10BaseT
standards with the following configuration (Pin 1 is on the left side of
the opening):
PIN -- SIGNAL
1 -- Transmit Data +
2 -- Transmit Data -
3 -- Receive
Data +
4 -- Not Used
5 -- Not Used
6 -- Receive Data -
7 -- Not Used
8 -- Not Used
Note that the ViewStation uses the standard Twisted-Pair
interface of an unshielded 100 Ohm cable termination as its default
setting. If you are using a shielded 150 Ohm cable termination, you
should select jumpers 1-2 on JP15.
If your Twisted-Pair network does not use Link Integrity, you
have two methods of disabling this on the ViewStation. Jumpers 1-2 on
JP16 selects software specification of the Link Integrity setting, with
the "Thin" setting enabling Link Integrity and the "Thick" setting
disabling it. If you select jumpers 3-4 on JP17, this disables Link
Integrity on the circuit board and is independent of the software
setting. Refer also to another page Link
Integrity Settings for more information.
