This
page describes using FTP on Sun systems.
Typical Sun
installations do not start FTP.
A startup line for FTP is
present in the /etc/inetd.conf file, but is usually commented
out.
#ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/etc/in.ftpd inftpd
2. Remove the comment character ( # ) from the beginning of
the line.
3. Restart the inetd process. Find the process identification
number (PID) from the following command: ps -aux |
grep inetd
Then issue this command: kill -1 [PID]
This restarts the inetd process and starts the FTP
daemon.
