This button activates the Device Definition utility.
A device is a peripheral, such as a printer. A device must be defined with the Device Definition utility before you can use it in a DOS or Windows session. Several common device definitions are supplied when you install NeTraverse Win4Lin Terminal Server.
You use this utility to review existing definitions and to create new ones. To create new ones, you must be logged in as root. The most typical new definitions that you create are for printer spooling.
This button activates the utility that lets you view the shared DOS startup files, which are the autoexec.bat and config.sys files that execute when all users start a DOS or Windows session.
When you are logged in as root, you can edit the files or create them if they do not already exist.
This button activates the utility that you use to load the Windows installation files from the Windows installation CD. This step must be done by root before any user is able to use Windows.
In certain rare cases, you may need to re-create the DOS images. This button displays a window that lets you recreate them. Use the Help button in that window for more information.
