NeTraverse Win4Lin Terminal Server User's Guide
About DOS Images
NeTraverse Win4Lin Terminal Server uses three different types of DOS images: cga, mono, and vga.
Normally, NeTraverse Win4Lin Terminal Server chooses the correct image type for you, and
you never have to worry about the appropriate image to use.
Moreover, you typically do not need to create DOS images because it is done
automatically when the Windows installation files are loaded from CD.
The only times you need to create DOS images are:
- If you modify the config file in one or more of the following
directories:
- /var/win4lin/image/std/cga
- /var/win4lin/image/std/mono
- /var/win4lin/image/std/vga
These files are where the STACKS, FILES, BUFFERS,
and LASTDRIVE settings
are made.
- When you use custom devices, and the devices contain ROMs or other kinds
of memory-mapped IO.
When you create new DOS images:
- You must have root permission.
- No DOS or Windows sessions can be running.
- All three image types are re-created.
