Win4Lin Trouble Shooting Guide

This guide is to help you identify the cause of any problems you have using Win4Lin, and hopefully solve them yourselves. The other documentation sets that are installed along with Win4Lin are: These should also be consulted.

NOTE: There might be newer versions of this guide (and the other documetation too.) The current version of this guide is available on the NeTraverse web site (http://www.netraverse.com/).

Reporting problems

When reporting problems, along with a description of the problem (please be as detailed as possible), please supply detailed configuration information along with the problem report. This detailed configuration info is gathered by the command /opt/win4lin/bin/support.sh.

To use this command you must be in the home directory of the user, and have "root" or "super-user" permissions. To save the configuration info into the file "/tmp/configinfo" for example, at a shell prompt type these commands:

  1. cd
  2. su
  3. /opt/win4lin/bin/support.sh > /tmp/configinfo
