OID_REVISION_NUMBER

This key is used to return the OID and Revision number of objects. The external applications should not rely on the value of this property as it's format is not guaranteed to remain the same in future releases.

The object revision number is incremented differently for different types of objects. For regular objects it is incremented on every attribute/relationship change. For objects that have high-cardinality relationships (COS, etc),it is only incremented on attribute changes. So, if IPDevice is associated with a given COS it does not change revNumber on the COS, but does change it on IPDevice.
