public class PacketCableException
extends com.cisco.provisioning.cpe.BaseRuntimeException

This exception is thrown when a device configuration for a PacketCable device can not be created.

BPR supports an incremental upgrade from previous versions, to avoid requiring all BPR servers be upgraded to at once. This requires the RDU to generate device configurations that are compatible with servers running older versions of BPR until all servers in a provisioning group have been upgraded.

But in the case of PacketCable, it is not possible to create a compatible device configuration if servers running a version of BPR before 2.5 are present in the provisioning group as versions before 2.5 are not capable of supporting PacketCable devices. This exception may be thrown to indicate BPR servers must be upgraded before PacketCable devices can be supported.

Support for PacketCable devices is not enabled by default under BPR. DPE servers and BPR CNR extensions must be configured properly to enable PacketCable support. If a provisioning group contains servers that do not have PacketCable support enabled, then a configuration for a PacketCable device should not be created until PacketCable support has been enabled on all servers in the group. This exception may be thrown to indicate this issue as well.
