This package contains several versions of the DOS/4G and DOS/4GW
runtime. It is used by several softwares that require large
memory. If your software complained that DOS4GW.EXE or DOS4G.EXE
is missing, then this package is for you.

Depending on the software requirements, it may require either
DOS/4G or DOS/4GW with a specific version. See table below.

Name Version File Name Original File Name Year Released
------- ------- ----------- ------------------ -------------
DOS/4GW 1.40 D4GW140.EXE DOS4GW.EXE 1992
DOS/4GW 1.60 D4GW160.EXE DOS4GW.EXE 1992
DOS/4GW 1.95 D4GW195.EXE DOS4GW.EXE 1993
DOS/4GW 1.97 D4GW197.EXE DOS4GW.EXE 1994
DOS/4GW 2.01a D4GW201A.EXE DOS4GW.EXE 1997
DOS/4G 2.61 D4G_261.EXE DOS4G.EXE 1998

Most old softwares use DOS/4GW rather than DOS/4G.

There is no sure way to know exactly which one is required, but
one thing for sure is that if a software was released at 1993,
logically, it uses either v1.40, v1.60 or v1.95 and not the latter
ones because they don't exist yet at that time.

Once you have a number of versions to try, start with the latest
one. Once you chosen a version to try, lookup its file name then
copy it into your program's directory using a different file name
based on its original file name. e.g.:

COPY D4GW195.EXE C:\MYAPP\DOS4GW.EXE

Please do not simply rename or move the file if you want an archive
for these runtime files. You may need them later. Otherwise, do as
you see fit.

The DOS4GVM.CFG is a sample file for the DOS/4G and DOS/4GW runtime
configuration. The SETENV.BAT is also a sample for using the
DOS4GVM.CFG configuration file. Usually they are not needed, but I
include them just in case.
