This package (TADvdsk) is included in the factory loads that are now shipping. With this package installed the system will detect when the boot disk (pack) has been moved between AVI and non-AVI systems (NAVI) and will alert the user. It will also inform the user of the consequences of running the system as is and provides an opportunity to reconfigure the boot disk for the current system by running a simple command. It will not actually make any changes unless the user executes the specified command. The package can be made to provide automatic (non-interactive) operation by toggling a software switch (AutoFix) in the /etc/init.d/vdc script. Whether executed manually or automatically the script will convert to the current system environment. It will only execute if it detects a disk/system AVI/NAVI mismatch. If you have problems converting the script for automatic operation contact support at Tadpole-RDI. The package can be installed on any of Solaris 2.5.1, 2.6 or 7. *****************SOLARIS 2.5.1 INSTALLATION WARNING***************** The standard file permissions settings for /etc are different for 2.5.1. If you are installing on 2.5.1 say "no" when it asks about installing the conflicting directory "/etc" and then say "yes" when it asks if you want to continue.
