In order to install pnt driver on Solaris, please follow the procedure below:



1) Copy the file pnt-solaris.pkg to /tmp directory.

2) cd /tmp

3) use command "pkgadd -d /tmp/pnt-solaris.pkg"



You will see something like this:



    Where do you want the driver object installed ? (Default is

    /kernel/drv)-> [?,q] <Hit Enter here>



    Enter path to package base directory [?,q] <type /kernel/drv here>



5) If you are using SUN pcn driver you should remove it with the command



   /usr/sbin/rem_drv pcn



   You should also remove file /etc/hostname.pcn0



6) Add the new driver to the system with the command



   /usr/sbin/add_drv -m"* 0644 root root" -i'"pci1022,2000"' pnt



7) You may optionally test the driver with the command



   /usr/sbin/ifconfig pnt0 plumb

   /usr/sbin/ifconfig -a



   If you have PCNet-Fast card in your system, the output of the second ifconfig

   command should show pnt0 interface.



8) Create the file /etc/hostname.pnt0 with the hostname of the interface (its IP

   address should be specified in /etc/hosts file).



9) Reboot the system.
