Introduction
I'm no expert
and I only have an RS/6000 40P. I took 1 1/2 weeks to successfully install
NT. I have documented my experience so that the info will be easier to
find (especially since Microsoft & IBM have both dropped support for
NT on PowerPC) . Basically, installing NT on RS/6000 not easy, especially
us who have always been working on Intel x86 platform. I had a really hard
time even finding the NT ARC bootloader, let alone a web page with instructions
or someone who really knows how.
Acknowledgments
Many thanks to Alexander
Gusev from Chelyabinsk, Russia (very nice guy) who walked me through
part of the process of my first installation. This is my way of passing
his bit kindness on.
Many thanks to Christopher McCann (also avery nice guy, who used to be IBM's Windows NT PowerPC Level2 Product Support Leader) for taking the time to check this webpage even though 1) he was not obligated to & 2) IBM has dropped all support. Thanks also for putting up your Windows NT/PowerPC page! Finally......an expert!
Many thanks to Andrew Chen, also from IBM who is setting up a mirror for this page. Also thanks for the details on the RS/6000 860 notebook. More details on the mirror later...
Many thanks to Zhu Haoying for info about installing NT on Motorola PowerStack RISC PC.
