HP OpenView Session API

Introduction

The HP OpenView Java Session API allows Java applets to get information about the current HP OpenView Java Console session. This allows sharing of information accross Java applets that are part of the same session. This information includes the name of the user, the roles the user has, and the locale used for providing localization of the user interface.

If user login is enabled, a user is required to do a login to access the functionality of the HP OpenView Java Console. This initiates a session for a particular user with a particular set of roles. The roles determine which operations are available to the user.

If user login is disabled, the user does not need to login. A session is still created.

C Session API

There is a corresponding C Session API that can be used by CGI programs that are started as a part of an HP OpenView Java Console session. It provides the same information as the Java Session API.
