Event Type

One of the header information values added to an event, by the engine, is the event type. This information can be used for filtering events as they enter the engine.

By default, the event type of a text-based event is set to the name of the event's syntax. This behavior can be overridden by using the optional event_type MDL expression.

If event_type is used, it must be set to the name of an attribute. The event type header information will then be set to the value of the attribute.

In the example, the event type default of exampleEvent is overridden, and will be set to the value of attribute message.
