The ecsmgr command line utility enables the operator to control the engine and correlation by:

• creating and managing streams
• loading and unloading circuits
• loading and updating Data and Fact Stores
• saving and restoring engine state
• logging and tracing

The ecsmgr command line utility is used in all environments in which ECS is deployed, except for ITO where control over the ECS engine is provided through the template.

In NNM, an additional Java applet provides a more sophisticated interface for common engine management tasks, but lacks facilities for creating streams and for controlling logging and tracing.
