The pmd-linked engine is automatically loaded when the pmd is started. The pmd can be restarted with:

	ovstop
	ovstart

Lab for text-based events

The programs for text-based event I/O are located in $OV_PROG_SAMPLES/ecs/event_io

Compile ecsin.c and ecsout.c with the provided Makefile.

	make clean
	make 

Run ecsout to receive text-based events:

	ecsout

In a separate window, run ecsin to send text-based events (from the file simple_events) to the engine:

	ecsin < simple_events

The metadata for decoding these text-based events is part of the product installation.

Lab for CMIP events

Turn on engine input-event logging to record when events have been received by the engine:

	ecsmgr -log_events_in on

Set your path to include the contributed utilities directory.

• on Solaris or HP-UX 10.X it is /opt/OV/contrib/ecs
• on Windows NT this is C:\OpenView\contrib\ecs

Use the contributed utility ecsevgen to send events from an event log to the pmd:

	ecsevgen $OV_DOC/train/labs/filtering.evt

Check the engine log $OV_LOG/ecs/1/ecsin.evt0 to verify that the events were received by the engine.
