Before attempting to work with the ECS Engine or Designer, your environment variables should be set up as follows:

If running sh or ksh on:

• HP-UX 9.X: . /usr/OV/bin/ov.envvars.sh
• HP-UX 10.X or Solaris 2.X: . /opt/OV/bin/ov.envvars.sh

If running csh on:

• HP-UX 9.X: source /usr/OV/bin/ov.envvars.sh
• HP-UX 10.X or Solaris 2.X: source /opt/OV/bin/ov.envvars.sh

On Windows NT:

• %OV_MAIN_PATH%\bin\ov.envvars.bat

where %OV_MAIN_PATH% is the drive and directory into which ECS was installed (usually C:\OpenView)
