Augmenting MIB Files

The ECS Engine and Designer obtains default event metadata for CMIP and SNMP events from the MIB file $OV_GDMO_MIBS/ems.mib.

This file can be augmented as follows:

  • Place additional MIB files in $OV_GDMO_MIBS/
  • Type ecsber as superuser.
If the ecsber script is successful, the line:
Created ecs.per, ecs.def and ecs.md in $OV_CONF/ecs/md/ber/
should be written to the terminal.

If the ecsber script fails, ensure that symbols in the default MIB file ems.mib aren't duplicated in the user MIB. If the ecsber script still fails, use the ovgdmoparse and ovmdt tools to identify the problem.
