Specifying Event Endecoders

The ECS Engine or Designer needs to know which event encoder/decoder (endecoder) modules it should load. This information is specified in the file $OV_CONF/ecs/ed/ed.conf and is read when the Engine or Designer is started.

The file can contain the keywords MDL, SNMP and/or CMIP, each on a separate line. You need to edit the file to specify the endecoder(s) that you require.

The endecoder(s) specified by the keywords are:

MDL 8-bit text-based events
SNMP ber-encoded SNMP v1 MIB-II traps
CMIP ber-encoded CMIP event reports and SNMP traps (TMN only)
