Engine Management

The engine is managed with the ecsmgr command. On UNIX you need to have superuser privileges to use this command.

The main uses of ecsmgr are:

  • Loading/Unloading circuits, Data and Fact store files
  • Enabling/disabling circuits
  • Creating and managing streams
  • Updating and dumping data and fact stores
  • Saving and restoring the engine's state
  • Reloading circuits
  • Disabling the engine
Note: ecsmgr communicates with the engine via a socket stack. The engine also uses the stack for communication with other processes. Since the engine is limited to eight connections, one connection needs to be kept free for ecsmgr to use.
