  Eddie History
  =============

This file gives you an overview about all released versions of Eddie.
The history list is sorted in inverse chronological order, so you will
always find the entry describing the current version on top of the list.

Each entry of the list reports the changes from the corresponding
  previous version.

Version number and version date can be found in the module's info
dialog, which can be opened with the upper right icon of the first
  Eddie function group.

> Since Sep 01, 1999 invers Software is the new owner of "Eddie".
> Please take a look at the file INFO\ADEQUATE.TXT, too.

  Eddie 6
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Version 6.06 14.12.2000
  ------------------------
  - Some dialogs had to be tuned for the new SL2000 WinPack style guide.
  - Eddie lite may use the system clipboard from now on.

  Version 6.05 20.09.2000
  ------------------------
Tiny internal bugfixes - no update required!
Help texts for GEM clipboard context have been changed:
  'GEM' became 'System'.

  Version 6.04 07.06.2000
  ------------------------
  Version restyled for SL2000.

  Version 6.03 21.12.1999
  ------------------------
All dialogs have been restyled for the SL99 style guide.
SL99 is strictly required for Eddie now.

  Version 6.02 16.06.1999
  ------------------------
Removal of some problems that arose in combination with Calamus 99:

When flowing text back with a window held open, as well as when
scrolling a text window that was not in the foreground, wrong text
    areas were drawn.

If a text window (particuarly the Search & Replace window) was made so
small that no text remained visible, Eddie quit with a "Out of memory"
message. At worst this could even lead to a complete system freeze.

The separation line between the dialog portion and text portion in
the Search & Replace window was not visible. Furthermore under some
circumstances stray pixels appeared at the lower edge after opening
    this window.

Cause of this misbehaviour was a program routine in Eddie that is no
longer needed under Calamus 99 and is therefore deactivated.
Unfortunately this caused some undesired side-effects in window
management, which have now been fixed in the present version.

  Version 6.01 11.06.1999
  ------------------------
The page-wise browsing with Shift+arrow keys (up/down) did not work
  under Calamus 99.

  Version 6.0 01.06.1999
  ------------------------
A few adaptations to Calamus 99 were made that only have an effect
with this (or a newer) version of the Calamus kernal:

Under MagiCPC all colour settings wre ignored. The text appeared only
    in black & white.

If Calamus runs under MagiC, then window shading (leaving just the
title bar visible) can be switched on and off with a double-click on
the title line. In Eddie it was possible write in shaded windows,
which gave rise to display errors.

Eddie displays the help-texts of the windows' operating elements only
with the aid of program routines in Calamus. Through this display
problems with some screen resolutions are avoided.

The functioning of the Fuller button in Eddies text window was not
consistent with that of the document window (Eddie overcame with its
own program routines an error in the Calamus kernel, which is now
    remedied in Calamus 99).

The redrawing of windows lying in the background has been speeded up
    a little.

The following improvements are independent of the Calamus version used:

Texts that were opened by other modules (e.g. the time-capture log
of the document information module) can now be transferred to text
    frames.

When overwriting a frame anchor in overwrite mode Eddie inserted the
text input at the wrong position (a few characters after the text
cursor). If a control code was "hit" by this, then the text could
be damaged (depending on the control code).

  Version 5 08.09.98
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adaptation to the August freshup of Calamus 98 with keyboard-operable
    dialogs.
The mouse pointer started to flicker if the switch for leader tabs
was activated in the text ruler.
A further bug in the ruler dialog was remedied: Display errors when
switching the units of measurement (between numerical and percentage
    values).

  Version 5 27.04.98
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes were made in the following areas:

   Editing texts in windows
   Search & Replace
   General user interface

  EDITING TEXTS IN WINDOWS ..................................................

  - The dialog with the text style list was supplemented with an "Edit"
button that brings up the large dialog in the Text Style module.
This function is available from Calamus 98 onwards.

  - When leaving the text ruler dialog with "OK" Eddie now always updates
the ruler settings in the Text module (up till now this happened only
    when inserting a new ruler).

  - The long format display of the text style control codes did not work
in Calamus 98 (the style names were missing).

  - Text blocks or gaps between blocks that exclusively contain invisible
text (i.e. invisible control codes) are now displayed as null-blocks
    or gaps respectively.

  - If one moved a text block that encompassed exactly the second-from-
last text line to a position earlier in the text, then Eddie froze
if the last line in the text was at least as long as the penultimate
one and both lines ended with a hyphen. However, Eddie could be
"woken up" again with Control+Shift+Alternate. The same thing
happened when deleting a null-block at the start of the last line
    (with the same line structure).

Did someone assert that there were no interesting errors? ...

  - When pressing and holding a key at the maximum repetition rate
(control panel) Eddie froze and only redrew the window when the key
    was released. This was remedied.

  - If Eddie is forced to skip over the first ruler or first style in
the text frame when flowing back text (see supplement manual p. 52)
the correct message "First ruler/style will be skipped" appears in
place of "A different text area is selected".

  SEARCH & REPLACE ...........................................................

  - The operating elements of the Search & Replace window were reordered
and revised. Global settings and functions are now visibly separated
from the individual settings of the relevant Search & Replace rules.
The "Recursive" switch is now more clearly labelled with (search
also) "in replaced text". It is now supplemented by the newly added
switch "skip after replacement". Both options become active when
Eddie has found a matching text passage:

If with the APPLICABLE search rule the switch "Skip after
replacement" is set, ALL search rules AFTER the just replaced text
      passage continue with the search.

Otherwise ALL search rules for which "in replaced text" was
activated search through the replaced text anew.

  - When scrolling the Search & Replace window with the option "Cursor
stays at same window position" switched on, the text cursor could
slip in front of the separating bars (with fatal results for the
text structure if one entered or deleted text there).

  - Em-space control codes were sometimes not found when searching the
    text.

  - New Search & Replace setup:
    - INDEX.SES manages and creates index control codes

  GENERAL USER INTERFACE ..................................................

  - The popups in some dialogs (set colours, text macros) looked
    extremely ugly in 3D-mode.

  - In newer Calamus versions the Eddie help-texts now appear at the
    correct position.

  Version 4 24.12.97
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is now possible to insert complete frames via the clipboard into
an Eddie window. During this Eddie automatically creates a frame
    anchor.

New text windows no longer protrude over the right or lower screen
    edge.

Eddie now supports the new "Line aligment" text ruler option added
to Calamus 98 (set in the text ruler dialog).

Some dialogs were revised a little and adapted for Calamus 98.

  Version 3 24.04.97
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eddie was adapted to the new features of Calamus 96 (long filenames,
    modern dialog design).

The "Delete active block when writing" option was extended. If only
a single block was selected, then this also had to be active (i.e.
contain the cursor) so that it would be deleted automatically while
writing. Eddie now recognizes when just a single block is selected,
and deletes it also when the cursor is positioned outside the block
(for this the cursor will be placed at the position of the deleted
    block).

Eddie is now accompanied by an import driver for raw text. This
contains, part from the functions in the original ASCII text import,
the possibility to take over all ASCII control codes in Calamus.

CHANGE UPPER TO LOWER CASE .................................................

A new function has been added: "Change UPPER to lower case" (in the
"Block functions/Tools" function group). With this function you can
convert capital letters in all marked blocks to lower case, and vice
versa. Eddie proceeds here as follows:

First of all the characters at the start of the selected text
passage are analysed. If there are more capitals than lower case
characters then the contents of all blocks will be converted to
lower case letters. If lower case characters form the majority, the
conversion will be to capitals. Further clicks on the icon then
reverse the case of each marked text.

  TEXT MARKERS ...............................................................

Eddie now offers the possibility to define any desired number of
text markers per text window, which can be used to mark text
passages quickly and conveniently, and later jump to them again. The
markers are inserted in the text and when flowed back also adopted
in the layout (though they are only visible in Eddie). Three new
icons were added to the "Block Functions/Tools" function group to
    service this mechanism:

    - Insert Text Mark
A text marker is inserted at the cursor position without comment.

    - Insert Text Mark with Key Setting
A text marker is inserted at the cursor position. Eddie prompts the
user to press any desired key combination, which is then assigned
      to the marker.

    - Go to Text Mark
A popup with all markers present in this text appears. If set, the
assigned key combination appears at the start, followed by a
section of the text where the marker is placed. There are two ways
of going to the marker in the editor window:

      - Mouse clicking on the marker
      - Pressing the key combination that belongs to the marker

The key code is displayed in the following form:

      ACS #Key

"A" represent Alternate, "C" Control and "S" Shift. If a given
Shift key is meant, Eddie uses "L" or "R" (or left or right Shift
key) instead. The "#" character signifies that the key lies on
the numeric block at far right of the keyboard.

An exact description of the display format is contained in the
      file INFO\KEYS.TXT.

Text markers are shown in the short form display as small circles,
in the long display as two semi-circles enclosing the keyboard
    shortcut assigned to the marker.

     ******************************************************************
     ** PLEASE NOTE: **
     ** **
** With the installation of the update it is imperative that **
** the new version of the font EDDIE.FNT is used which contains **
** the required special characters for displaying the text **
     ** markers (at the positions 0, 17 and 20). **
     ******************************************************************

Due to the addition of the new functions, a reordering of the icons
in this function group was required. Key macros that use this
    functions have to be re-programmed.

    Tips and notes:

All key combinations already assigned by the macro recorder will be
intercepted by Calamus and therefore cannot be used for text
markers. However you can get around this restriction by a small
trick: Just activate beforehand the key combination for the
""Activate Text Macro"" prefix, which can be set in the ""Special
Key Bindings"" dialog in the Text module (see also INFO\KEYS.TXT).

For setting and going to text markers we recommend that you assign
each function to a key with the macro recorder. For this two key
    bindings are recorded as follows:

Start recorder with Alternate + Esc
Click on ""Insert Text Mark With Key Setting""
Press key(s) for Activate Text Macro (usually Control + M)
Stop recoding with Alternate + Esc
Press the key combination for ""Insert Text Mark""

Start recorder with Alternate + Esc
Click on ""Go to Text Mark""
Press key(s) for Activate Text Macro (usually Control + M)
Stop recoding with Alternate + Esc
Press the key combination for ""Go to Text Mark""

The text markers can then be controlled completely from the keyboard
and can be used very quickly.

MEASUREMENT UNITS FOR LONG DISPLAY OF CONTROL CODES SELECTABLE .............

The units of measurement with which the values in control codes in
the long form display are output can now be selected. The buttons
for this are in the "Define Control Codes" dialog in the function
field directly following the legends "Ruler", "Kerning" and "Frame
anchor" (these are the only contol codes that can contain values
    using units of measurement).

The setting is made separately for each of these control codes. The
three different display setups (buttons "1", "2" and "3") however
share one and the same set of measurement units. Different units of
measurement can be set for each text window.

When selecting units of measurement you can choose between those set
for the page size, the font size and the line size. The units in
question can be set, as usual, in the Page module.

CONVERTING TEXT BLOCKS TO FOOTNOTES, INDEX ENTRIES OR COMMENTS ..............

When inserting index or footnote entries as well as comments you now
have the additional option to apply these to marked text blocks (the
button with this legend is now selectable). This means: The text
blocks are converted into the relevant control code, the contents of
the block will afterwards appear within the control codes (the Text
    module does exactly the same).

MANUAL KERNING CAN BE APPLIED TO TEXT BLOCKS .............................

Kerning control codes can now also be applied to text blocks. For
this Eddie inserts a kerning control code at the start and end of
the block. If there are already such control codes there, then these
will be modified and no new ones inserted.

The control code at the start of the block contains the set X and Y
displacement values, the control code at the end exactly the
opposite of these values. If existing control codes were modified,
then a relative change of the kerning follows at the end of the
    block.

    Example:
Apply kerning X:10.0 Y:-2.0 to block

At the start of the block: X:10.0 Y:-2.0 will be inserted
At the end of the block: X:-10.0 Y:2.0 will be inserted

    Example:
Apply kerning X:10.0 Y:-2.0 to the block, but there are already
       control codes present:

At start of the block there is: X:5.0 Y:1.0
At end of the block there is: X:-4.0 Y:-1.0 (i.e. the 5.0 will
                                                       not be restored
                                                       completely)

Block start will be changed to: X:10.0 Y:-2.0 (as specified)
Block end will be changed to: X:-9.0 Y:2.0 (the -10.0 will not
                                                       be quite restored
                                                       by the same
                                                       amount as before)

  CURSOR AND WRITE MODES ......................................................

If you should "lose" the cursor occasionally (cannot find it at
first glance in the jungle of letters) then you can press the keys
Control+Shift+Alternate to call up a position marker (a shrinking
    rectangle).

In the "Settings" function panel a new switch has been added:
"Delete Active Block in Writing". If this icon is selected, then the
active block (if present) will be deleted automatically when new
text is input and replaced by the typed characters. In addition the
active block can then be deleted by pressing the Delete or Backspace
    key.

  EXTENDED CHARACTER SELECTION DIALOG ........................................

In the dialog for character selection a number of buttons were
added with which given groups of characters may be switched over
simultaneously. We are dealing here with:

    - Capitals
    - Lower case
    - Numerals
    - Spaces (incl. fixed space, Em-space)
    - Dashes (minus characters, divis etc.)
    - Punctuation

NEW SEARCH & REPLACE JOKERS .................................................

The joker characters have been thoroughly cleaned to make their use
easier with the "Search & Replace" tool:

There is now only one type of joker character! In return a further
property was added to them: The lowest and highest number of
characters that the joker must fit. A control code counts here as
just one character. Jokers in the search text can now be copied to
the replacement text and vice versa, without Eddie displaying this
    as a forbidden action.

In addition the meaning of the stop character of the previous
*-joker has been reversed. Now - as previously was the case with the
[]-jokers - the PERMITTED characters will be set.

EVERY joker now has an individual character setting. The rather
confusing defaults have been discarded without replacement.

When loading old Search & Replace setups an automatic conversion is
carried out into the new format. The Search & Replace rules behave
exactly as in the older Eddie versions, with one exception:
The characters to be ignored may now also appear in jokers when they
are marked there as non-allowable characters.

     *******************************************************************
     ** PLEASE NOTE: **
     ** **
** Eddie 1 is not able to load Search & Replace setups that were **
** saved by Eddie 2. The same applies for the Search & Replace **
** texts stored with the document. These are ignored by Eddie 1 **
** and DELETED from the document without comment. So you should **
** avoid editing documents with both Eddie versions, though **
** there is really no reason why you should want to do this ... **
     *******************************************************************

Due to these changes an adaptation of the joker display in the text
was necessary. The appearance of the joker depends on its position
    and is defined as follows:

    In the search text:
       {!min..max Name}

Eddie decides on the basis of the actual values whether one of
the components is to be displayed or not. The following cases
       are possible (examples):

{3..7} One joker which can include 3 to 7 characters
{1} This joker matches exactly 1 character (min and max
                   are identical)
{2..} Joker that can match 2 to infinite number of characters
{..10} This time the minimum is 0, the maximum number is 10
{..} The number of characters is unrestricted

A ! specifies that this joker does NOT match all characters.
If a name is present, then this will be appended as before.

       As a result:
       {?}   becomes  {1}
{[]} becomes {!1} or {1} (if all characters are permitted)
       {*}   becomes  {!..} or {..}

For jokers that following their setting should encompass as MANY
characters as possible, the two points (..) will be replaced
       by colons (::).

    In replacement text:
       {=Name}

In the replacement text only the name of the joker matters. A
double-click on a Replace joker therefore opens only one popup
with the names of all Search jokers.

    In the main text:
Using the clipboard, joker characters can be copied to the main
text. However they have no meaning there and are therefore
       displayed only as "{Joker}".

  SINGLE/MULTI SETTING FOR SEARCH & REPLACE ..................................

At the top of the Search & Replace window a new button has been
addded: "Multi". If this is switched off, then only the currently
visible settings in the window will be used for Search & Replace.
If the MULTI mode is switched on, the Search & Replace text rules
    work as previously in parallel.

SAVE TEXTS WHEN QUITTING EDDIE, AUTOMATIC RELOAD WHEN RESTARTED ........

When Eddie is terminated it now offers to save the contents of all
text windows still open. The texts will be saved under the name
EDDIExxx.CTD in the system path for texts, where xxx corresponds to
an incrementing number. When restarting Calamus/Eddie, these files
    will be reloaded automatically.

  TEXT MACRO FUNCTIONS ........................................................

New functions for editing the text macros list have been added to
the the "Text Macros" function panel. Operation is organized in a
similar way to that in the Text module. In detail, the following
    functions are available:

    - Define New Text Macro

With this you can create new text macros. Eddie invites you to
first input the key combination to which the macro is to be
assigned. After this it lets you input the name of the macro.

All selected text blocks will be copied and gathered up in one
text string. The separator text settings will be taken into
account for this. The text data resulting from this will be
      incorporated in the macro.

In some cases of conflict the dialog can not be quit with "OK".
This can be due to the following situations:

      - The macro name is empty or already assigned to another macro
      - The key combination has been assigned already to another macro

By altering the macro name or inputting a new, still unused
key combination the "OK" button may be activated again.

    - Edit Text Macro

This serves for altering the parameters of text macro (name, key
assignment, contents). The same dialog as for defining new macros
appears, but with an additional button. If this is selected, then
new contents will be assigned to the macro (as described above).

The use of this function looks like this: First click on the icon,
then on the macro to be edited.

    - Copy Text Macro

A text macro will be duplicated. Here Eddie automatically asks you
to input a new key combination for this macro. The use is exactly
the same as for "Edit Text macro".

    - Delete Text Macro

With this, one macro can be deleted at a time. Click first on the
icon, then on the text macro to be deleted.

    - Load Macro List

The file selector appears for choosing a text macro list (file
extender CMA). When loading you have the choice of discarding
macros already present ("Replace") or keeping them ("Merge").

    - Save Macro List

The file selector appears for saving the macro list.

  KEY BINDINGS ................................................................

The fixed, preset key bindings have had new ones added:

    Undo Undo: Rewind
    Shift + Undo Undo: Forward

Furthermore the logic of the function group "Go to start/end of the
previous/next word" has been switched over, using two newly added
key combinations. These alter the assignments as follows:

    Switch:
Control + both Shift keys + [right arrow]

    Effect:
Control + [arrow left/right] makes the text cursor jump to the
start of the nearest word in the relevant direction.

With Control + Shift + [arrow left/right] the cursor jumps to the
end of the nearest word in the relevant direction.

This corresponds to the default setting.

    Switch:
Control + both Shift keys + [left arrow]

    Effect:
The meaning of the two combinations with [right arrow] (with or
without Shift) will be swapped over.

By pressing Control + [left/right arrow] the cursor now jumps to
the edge (start/end respectively) of the word that lies in the
jump direction. With the addition of the Shift key the cursor will
be placed on the edge of the word opposite to the jump direction.

Simply try out this new variation and decide for yourself which
assignment allows you to to work more comfortably.

  SELECTING WORDS WITH A DOUBLE-CLICK .........................................

Words can now be marked as a block by double-clicking with the left
mouse button. By holding down the button after the second click and
dragging the mouse cursor over the text, blocks can be drawn out as
usual although in this case Eddie will only mark word by word. The
set hyphenation characters will be taken into account.

In a similar way triple-clicks select complete lines or draw up
    blocks line by line respectively.

  DOCUMENTATION ...............................................................

The file INFO\PROBLEMS.TXT was revised and extended. A new addition
is a description of the use of key presses and key combinations in
    Calamus and Eddie (file INFO\KEYS.TXT).

The help-file EDDIE.HLP is no longer included with version 2.

OPERATION OF SEARCH & REPLACE ...............................................

The top line in the Search & Replace window was redesigned and is
now appreciably clearer than in the first version.

    - Options are now implemented as checkboxes with explanatory text.
    - Due to the combination of jokers all icons made redundant by this
      have been eliminated.
    - The icon "Set characters to be ignored" has been turned into a
      button marked "Characters".
    - A few explanatory texts in small type were added.

In addition each Search & Replace text can have comments added for
    documentation purposes.

SEARCH & REPLACE IN BACKGROUND ..............................................

The status progress bar is now displayed in a real window
(exception: Calamus has no more windows available). While working
through long-winded operations this makes it possible to place
Calamus in the background and work with other applications in the
meantime. Naturally this is only possible when using a multitasking
operating system (MagiC, MultiTOS). For technical reasons there are
    some restrictions:

    - Calamus itself has been put to sleep. Only the operating elements
of the Calamus windows react to user actions.

    - Eddie's windows can only be moved. The redrawing of a window area
is not possible; Eddie draws a speckled fill-pattern instead at the
corresponding place. The actual redraw will take place after the
end of the Search & Replace operation.

    - An unavoidable error in all Calamus versions appearing to date
blocks the Search & Replace process as long as the mouse cursor
lies over a window that does NOT belong to Calamus or one of its
      modules (see also PROBLEMS.TXT).

The breaking off with Shift/Control/Alternate is only possible when
the window with the satus bar is topped.

COPY, MOVE, DELETE, INSERT BLOCKS ...........................................

The use of the block operations (delete, copy, move) have been
simplified appreciably: The dialogs on selecting the icons no longer
exist. The relevant operation is now applied immediately to the text
without asking for confirmation. All selected blocks will be
    affected in each case.

A new icon in the "Block Functions/Tools" function panel determines
whether during multi-block operations (e.g. Copy) the separator text
should be inserted between blocks. The icon can either be active or
not active. The same icon (labelled "Use Separator text") is present
in the header line of the separator text window.

The treatment of block markers during copying is configured in a
newly added dialog "Define Block Marking" that is included in the
    "Settings" function panel.

The dialog for inserting blocks in the text (say from the clipboard)
has been slimmed down. The differentiation between all blocks and
the active block has been removed. Here too all blocks are now
    modified at all times.

  BLOCK MARKS .................................................................

Due to the simplification of the block operations the active block
only has a special meaning with the "Active Block Replaces All Other
Blocks" function. Those who place no value on the visual emphasis of
the active block should set the same colours for active and
non-active blcoks. This speeds up some graphical operations.

The removal of all block markings (right mouse click) is appreciably
faster than before in some cases. Text formatting as also optimized
slightly, which should become noticeable when editing longer text
    passages.

If a block in the last line of the text was moved to the end of the
text, the block markings were lost.

TEXT FLOW BETWEEN FRAMES AND EDDIE ..........................................

The text flow from and to the text frames has been made more
    convenient:

    Open Eddie window:
If a block or ruler is selected, then the selected area will be
taken over without query, otherwise the complete text.

Text flow back into frame without closing Eddie's window:
As long as no conflict arises (see below), the flow back will take
place without comment. Otherwise the dialog appears that is also
opened on closing the Eddie window.

Text flow back into frame with closing Eddie's window:
Apart from "Cancel" and "Abandon changes" there are now only two
      buttons in this dialog:
      - Insert at cursor position
      - Replace
The "Replace" button affects either the whole text, the selected
block or the selected ruler. The labeling of the button is changed
by Eddie accordingly. In addition a message can appear in this
dialog warning you about unintended overwriting of text data:

      "The original text was changed"
In parallel to the work in Eddie the text in the layout was
altered. These changes will be lost when flowing back
        replacement text.

"Different text piping chain is selected"
The text in Eddie's window comes from a completely different
text piping chain than the selected one. This can happen for
instance if you have accidentally declared a different document
as active during move or similar actions. This message warns you
from accidentally overwriting the incorrect text data.

"No frame or too many frames selected"
This really explains itself: There is either no frame or several
frames from different piping chains selected on the current page
        of the current document.

      "Different text area is selected"
The area in the layout text that was replaced (whole text,
selected block or selected ruler) does not match the text area
that was originally taken over to the Eddie window. An example
illustrates this: A block is marked in the layout and the
contents of this block opened in an Eddie window. While working
in Eddie the block marking in the layout is cleared
accidentally. When flowing back the text Eddie would therefore
replace the complete text with its window contents. This is why
        this warning message appears.

Calamus requires that text frames ALWAYS start with a ruler and
a text style (in that order). If this rule is broken when
flowing back the replacement text (because you have deleted or
moved one of these control codes in the Eddie window), this
warning message also appears. Because Eddie then simply skips
over the ruler and control codes that are in the frame and
starts with the replacement from the first following character.

When flowing back text, less text is reformatted now. Specially with
long text piping chains this may save considerable time in some
    circumstances.

If an overflow appeared after flowing back the text ("+" character
in the lower right corner of the frame) then after further flow-back
operations it could happen in some circumstances that too few text
    frames were redrawn.

  DIALOGS .....................................................................

The lists in the following dialogs may now be operated from the
    keyboard:

    - Set text style
    - Search & Replace texts
    - All popups

    Key assignments:

    - Cursor up/down : To previous/next entry
    - Shift+Cursor up/down : Browses page by page
    - Shift+Ctrl+Cursor up/down : Goes to start/end of list
    - ClrHome and Shift+ClrHome : ditto
    - Return or Enter : Selects the current entry

Also new: By double-clicking a list entry in the Text Style or
Search & Replace dialog this may be selected and the dialog quit
    automatically.

The popup menus in the "Set control codes" and "Set colour" dialogs
were revised and now appear somewhat altered. The ruler dialog has
    also been somewhat uplifted.

If popup actions are to be included in a keyboard macro, then it is
recommended that the popup for this be operated exclusively from the
    keyboard.

In the Colour dialog one can now select the colour to be changed by
a mouse click in the sample text.

Internal styles are now marked in the Style dialog with a prefixed
arrow (exactly as in the dialog of the Style module).

  WINDOWS .....................................................................

Eddie is now ready for more than seven windows. As soon as this
restriction is removed in Calamus, Eddie can manage any desired
    number of windows immediately.

With very long window titles Eddie had problems displaying these.
This could only happen if many or all frames of a text piping chain
    had different names.

For all icons and buttons of a currently topped window, help-texts
are now shown in the usual position of the menu bar.

  CLIPBOARD ...................................................................

If the path of the GEM clipboard is not set, Eddie now uses the
folder CLIPBRD in the root directory of the boot drive for clipboard
    operations.

Eddie now also supports the more suitable, paragraph-oriented format
for data exchange via the GEM clipboard (SCRAP.ASC).

The display of copied or cut text on Calmus's own clipboard was
    mangled on non-monochrome screens.

  BOMBADIL ....................................................................

When altering the size of a text window that has been pushed over
the left edge of the screen, some pixel mangling occurred at the
edges. The problem could be rectified by an improvement of BOMBADIL.
