Installation
============
 1. Copy the file EPSON_SC.CDT to that folder of your hard drive
    that contains the other Calamus printer drivers
    (normally \CALAMUS\PRINTERS or \DRUCKER).
 2. Copy the data from the folder KENNLIN (or CTRLINES) to that folder
    on your hard drive that contains your other Calamus control curves
    (normally \CALAMUS\CTRLINES or \KENNLIN).
 3. Copy the data from the folder RASTER to that folder on your hard
    drive that contains other Calamus raster data (normally
    \CALAMUS\SCREENS or \RASTER).
 4. Keep your original floppy disk in a safe place!

 5. Now start your Calamus SL.
 6. In the File menu call up the "Print" dialog.
 7. Click on the field following the "Printer:" entry in the upper
    portion of the dialog.
 8. A file selector appears. In it select the printer driver
    named EPSON_SC.CDT and load this.
 9. From now on the printer driver will be available for use
    with the printer models listed below.
10. If you'd like for this printer driver to be loaded automatically
    when launching Calamus, select "Save System Settings" in the
    Options menu. In the dialog that appears after this click on
    the "Select: None" button. This switches off all setup themes.
    Now click on the "Printer" and "Search Paths" checkboxes so that
    these two are the only two themes selected. Finally you can save
    your CALAMUS.SET file anew. The system paths and printer settings
    will be saved in their current state.

Driver parameters
=================

Models
------
The EPSON-SC printer driver supports (at least) the following
models of the EPSON-Stylus-Color series:

    PRO XL, 300, 600, 800, Photo, 1520, 3000.

Other (newer) models could also be supported, though their
compatibility could not yet be tested here.

v1.02: The EPSON SC 400 is unfortunately not compatible - it does
        not understand packed data!

Resolutions
-----------
The EPSON-SC printer driver makes the following resolutions
available: 180*180, 360*360, 720*720 dpi. (1440*720 dpi is not a
property of the printer, but is forced by a minimal offset
of the printhead for a second pass (overprint) of the line
==> Star NL-10 ...)

Paper feed
----------
In this parameter is hidden the selection of the printing direction.
Unidirectional and Bidirectional modes are supported. "Auto" leaves
this decision to the printer.

Format
------
Here you can set the supported paper format(s) of your printer.
Besides the standard Calamus formats there are some Plus and
special formats available: A3+, A2, A2+, A2+ continuous.
(To cover all eventualities, there is also a "Special Paper Format"
without margins.)

Port
----
The supported output ports are "Parallel", "Serial" (both directly
via the ((Atari) hardware) and "Other" (output via the operating
system and so capable of diversion via a spooler).

Parameters
==========
Further driver settings are found under the "Parameters" button:

Dot size
--------
Here you can set the dot size to be used. Available values are:

    "Auto" = Selection is made by the printer
    "Micro" = Smallest possible dot size (for 720 dpi)
    "Normal" = Normal dot size for 360 dpi
    "Double"   = 2*2 dots for 180 dpi

Speed
-----
Speed of the printhead. Available values:

    "Auto" = Printer makes the selection
    "Slow"     = 10 ips (Inch/sec)
    "fast"     = 20 ips

Micro Weave
-----------
The printer can be made to print only every other dot, then set the
missing dots in a second pass of the line. The individual dots can
dry better that way and you don't get as much colour bleeding.
The available settings for this are quite simply:

    On, Off, Auto

TIP
===
Printing with "Micro" dot size but only at 360 dpi often gives
sufficient quality, is very fast and one does not have to bend
any LIN control curves.
