Simultaneous Multicast

UBC's MAGIC Lab uses Silicon Graphics workstations on an ATM network. In June 1996, MAGIC participated in the first nine-site simultaneous multicast connection on a Canadian ATM network. The multicast linked live video and audio Internet connections at sites across Canada. It was a prelude to the interactive, shared 3D animation and modeling workspace MAGIC facilitates for the forensics sessions between the Bureau of Legal Dentistry and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the Ottawa BADlab (broadband applications and development laboratory).
