History

MEDIALAB was originally created as a special production unit of Videosystem, one of the most successful French post-production houses, to develop and integrate the expertise and technology needed to produce a full-length computer-generated movie. Throughout the project, the MEDIALAB team used Silicon Graphics® workstations with real-time capabilities to cost-effectively produce character animation. CANAL+, the highly creative pay-per-view French channel and one of the most successful TV networks in Europe, took over the company in 1992 to support the MEDIALAB team and its visionary approach. MEDIALAB's expertise spans from digital imagery and high-resolution film to real-time performance animation and virtual reality.
