Recording From the Screen

This activity requires you to have another application window open on your screen.

  1. Launch Media Recorder.
  2. Click the Movie menu button (the first button in the lower left corner of the window) and choose Movie from Screen...> Window Area.
    This allows you to select a particular window on the screen to record. Position the cursor and click the left mouse button to select the application window you want to record.
  3. Choose Tasks > Movie > Screen Recording (Windows, Buttons, Menus).
    Media Recorder adjusts its recording settings to settings that are typically ideal for the chosen task.
  4. Click the Record button (red circle button in the lower right corner) when you are ready to begin recording. Then, for a few seconds, manipulate buttons or menus in the selected window.
  5. Click the Stop button (square) to stop recording.
  6. To watch your movie, click the Play button (triangle).


Recording Screen Snapshots

  1. Launch Media Recorder.
  2. Click the Image menu button (the third button in the lower left corner of the window) and choose Image from Screen > Select Area.
  3. Holding down the left mouse button, click and drag the selection outline over the area you want to capture.
  4. Choose Tasks > Image > Screen Snapshot.
  5. Click the Record button (red circle button in the lower right corner).
  6. To see the snapshot, click the Play button (triangle button next to the Record button).
