To build the installable drivers (Ver 1.0.0.0) :-

1. ./configure ...
2. make mcp/all (on Linux)
3. make (on AIX)
4. cd drivers/aix
5. export TOP=`pwd`
6. make -f Makefile.aix ship
7. cd ship
8. make expand

The smit installable file 'image' will be present in the ship directory. You
can now use smit to install the new drivers.

It just install the driver. You can either
        - reboot
        - run cfgmgr from cmd prompt
        - or, run "Install /Configure Devices Added After IPL" from Devices menu.

The /usr/lib/methods/cfggmpci program will load the driver and will create
the dev nodes /dev/gm0 and /dev/gmp0 (only if the driver was successfully
loaded).

re: panic/debugging
What you can do is to boot without the card and install the kernel
debugger. Run

        - bosboot -a -d

and then reboot with Hyperterminal/kermit etc. running at 9600 over a
serial cable.
